Dear Friends and Citizens of Snohomish County:
Welcome to Snohomish County. We are proud of the work we have done and the course we have charted for our future.
When I ran for office in November 2003, I promised to bring fiscal discipline to Snohomish County government. In 2004, by using Priority-Based Budgeting for the first time in County history, we were able to close a $13.4 million budget gap without a general tax increase. We continue to demonstrate our commitment to restoring trust in government by promoting fiscal responsibility, transparency and accountability. Our goal is to make Snohomish County the most efficient and effective service delivery system in the nation.
Today, we are working to create a smaller, more responsive and dynamic government to meet the changing needs of Snohomish County. I look forward to continuing to work with our County Council to ensure that Snohomish County is a place we are all proud to call home.
