Strong Winds Cause Damage Throughout Snohomish County
Executive Aaron Reardon has declared a state of emergency in Snohomish County after last night’s wind storm scattered debris throughout the County, led to road surface flooding, and caused 120,000 residents to lose power.

Snohomish County to Host Biodiesel Seminar
On Monday, December 18 at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds the agriculture community will be able to participate in a hands-on biodiesel training and demonstration. Farmers will be educated on the benefits of using biodiesel and biodiesel production. The seminar is funded by a $50,000 grant from the Alcoa Foundation to host four seminars throughout Washington. There will be no charge to attend the presentation, but space is limited.

State pledges $3.5 million to save mobile homes
Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon today announced that the Washington State Department of Community Trade and Economic Development (CTED) has made a conditional commitment to provide $3.5 million in federal HOME funds to aid in the preservation of two adjacent mobile home parks in Lynnwood --The Squire and Kingsbury East.

County announces cooperative effort to help conserve farmland
County Executive Aaron Reardon and the County Council are partnering with local cities on another initiative to preserve farmland. The county was awarded a $100,000 grant from the Washington State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development for a program that takes development pressure off of local farms and concentrates development in existing urban areas.November 21, 2006

Elected officials and community leaders are invited to attend the Countywide Youth Summit on Tuesday, November 28, 2006, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Public Utilities Department (PUD) Auditorium in Everett (2320 California Street). Council Meets Commitment in 2007 Budget
The Snohomish County Council Monday adopted a 2007 budget that makes key strategic investments in public safety, transportation, and the health and well-being of veterans of the armed services. County Council Chair Kirke Sievers said the council’s adopted budget is about, “commitment to our community, commitment to fiscal integrity, and commitment to solving the issues most important to our citizens."

Snohomish County Offers Free Waste Disposal for Flood Victims
Snohomish County is offering individuals faced with the aftermath of a flood clean-up, aid in the form of free waste disposal at County transfer stations for water-damaged household goods. These vouchers will be available for pickup at five locations in Snohomish County.

The Snohomish County Council is expected to act Wednesday to provide clean up relief to flooded residents. The Council will approve a voucher system that will allow flood victims to dump their damaged items at county transfer stations for the next 90 days.

Snohomish County services make permitting faster and easier for building contractors
Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon will lead a celebration on Thursday, October 26, to praise the collaboration of the County’s Planning and Development Services Department (PDS), Department of Information Services (DIS) and local building contractors for the success of the County’s new online contractor services. The event will also mark the official launch of these new and improved services to the entire building contractor industry.

91st Avenue SE is the first of 46 new Snohomish County infrastructure projects to be constructed over the next three years
Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon today announced that construction has begun on the first of 46 new road, parks and surface water management projects as part of a major community infrastructure development initiative to keep ahead of the County’s rapid growth. The 91st Avenue SE walkway safety project in the Lake Stevens area kicks off the three-year, $50 million Community Infrastructure Development Initiative four months earlier than expected.

Free Pet Microchipping Offered Sunday, October 1
On Sunday, October 1st, the first 200 Snohomish County resident dogs and cats brought to the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe starting at 10 a.m. will receive free microchip implants identifying the pet’s owner’s name and contact information, ensuring that a lost animal gets a quick ride home, instead of a trip to the local animal shelter.

The Snohomish County Auditor's Office – Licensing Division and Animal Control Services will be closed all day on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 for all staff training. The Election Division and Recording Division will remain open for public service. Marriage licenses will still be available through the Recording Division of the Auditor’s Office.
