Programs at the Juvenile Court provide resources for both juvenile offenders and non-offender youth. Programs and services are available to children and families in Snohomish County who are referred to the court for offender, dependency, truancy and other reasons.
The mission of Juvenile Court includes:
Holding youth accountable for their criminal acts;
Providing protection for the community and its youth;
Maintaining the integrity of individual rights; and,
Advocating for a safe and nurturing environment.
Juvenile offenders receive court process, probation and detention services at the Juvenile Court. If a juvenile offender has addiction issues, he or she may qualify for additional support through Juvenile Offender Drug Treatment Court or Chemical Dependency Disposition Alternative while they are on community supervision. Diversion provides an alternative to court for youth who meet certain legal eligibility requirements.
Non-offender youth receive court process assistance for At Risk Youth petitions, Child in Need of Services petitions and Truancy petitions. The CASA/Volunteer Guardian ad Litem Program provides advocacy in court for dependent youth.
The Reclaiming Futures program brings the community together to offer additional services to youth in the juvenile justice system.
