Honorable George N. Bowden
Judge George N. Bowden was appointed to the bench by Governor Gary Locke and took office in January, 1998. Prior to that he served as a judge pro tempore and arbitrator with the Snohomish County Courts. Judge Bowden received his B.A. degree from Bowdoin College in 1971 and his law degree from the University of Maine School of Law in 1974. He was employed as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Grays Harbor County, King County, and Snohomish County from 1974 to 1979. Before his appointment, Judge Bowden was a partner in the law firm of Senter and Bowden, where he was employed for 19 years. Judge Bowden serves as the presiding judge of the County’s adult offender drug court and chaired the Therapeutic Courts Committee of the Washington State Judges Association. He currently serves on that committee and the Criminal Rules and Procedures Committee. He is vice-president of the Board of Directors of the Snohomish County Council of Camp Fire USA, is active with Rotary and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, is a past president of the Everett Symphony and Habitat for Humanity, and serves on the Board of Puget Sound Kidney Centers. He has three stepchildren. His wife, Diane, is the manager for Plato’s Closet clothing store in Bellevue. Judge Bowden and his wife make their home in Mukilteo.
