228th St SE/SR9 area projects
The projects listed below were part of an agreement between King and Snohomish counties related to the construction of the Brightwater Wastewater Treatment Plant. The agreement secured $70 million - provided by King County - to construct community assets in Snohomish County. The projects included sidewalks, bike lanes, three county parks, land for a regional trail, the construction of other trails, a variety of habitat restoration projects, and the Brightwater Community Resource and Education Center.
At a November 2013 ribbon-cutting ceremony, Snohomish County residents and officials celebrated the completion of the projects with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Miner's Corner Park, at the corner of 228th St SE & 45th Ave SE.
Speakers included Snohomish County Executive John Lovick, County Councilman Dave Gossett, Public Workjs Director Steve Thomsen, and Parks Department Director Tom Teigen.
