Swamp Creek Bridge #600 on Ash Way
The new bridge was finished in September 2009

Old bridge New bridge
The bridge is located approximately ½ mile south of 164th Street SW and ½ mile west of Interstate 5. This is one route used by drivers traveling between 164th Street SW and the Alderwood Mall area.
The 2-lane bridge was originally built in 1940 and rebuilt in 1963. The narrow
19-foot width, lack of shoulders, and deterioration made the structure functionally obsolete by 2009.
The new bridge is wider and includes 5-foot sidewalks and 5-foot wide shoulders on both sides because the road is identified as a future bicycle route. As part of the project the stream, which flowed in the ditch parallel to the road, was restored to its natural meander away from the ditch. The surrounding wetland was also restored with native plantings. Wetlands store and filter stormwater runoff.
