National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)
Welcome to Snohomish County's NPDES Web Site.
This site contains information about the County's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) municipal stormwater permit and the actions the County must perform under this permit to minimize or prevent stormwater pollution. This permit is part of the federal Clean Water Act. Snohomish County has operated under such a permit since 1995.
In addition to the NPDES municipal stormwater permit, the County also operates under NPDES industrial stormwater permits (applicable to some County Solid Waste facilities and Paine Field) and NPDES construction stormwater permits (applicable to some County construction projects). This Web site focuses on the municipal stormwater permit.
The links below provide information about the municipal stormwater permit, what the County has done and will do to meet the permit requirements, how you can get involved, and other information.
