Recycling at County Facilities


The County's Transfer Stations and NRDC'S (Drop Boxes) have designated recycle areas. Please check the list below to see what's accepted. There is no fee charged for residential customers. NO PLASTICS accepted for recycling at County facilities.

Note: If recycling at your curb, check with your private hauler for their list of accepted items and instructions.

Businesses may recycle at private recycling facilities (see yellow pages) or sign up for curbside collection from local haulers.

 

PLASTICS

  • Plastics are NOT accepted for recycling at any County facility.

 

COMPUTERS, MONITORS, & TV'S

 

METAL FOOD & BEVERAGE CANS

  • Empty & wash out all food
  • Remove & recycle paper labels
  • Flatten cans to save space
  • Aluminum foil is okay only if washed clean

    No cans used for paint or chemicals
    No aerosol spray cans
    No soiled foil or pie tins
    (Tin cans and scrap metal go in separate bins)

TIN CANS

  • Empty & wash out all food
  • Remove & recycle paper labels
  • Flatten cans to save space

    No cans used for paint or chemicals
    No aerosol spray cans
    No soiled foil or pie tins
    (Metal cans and scrap metal go in separate bins)


GLASS BOTTLES & JARS

  • Remove & discard lids
  • Sort colors 
  • Empty & rinse out all food
  • Leaving labels on is okay

    No broken glass
    No drinking glasses or window glass
    No light bulbs, ceramics, or "Pyrex"
    (Fluorescent tubes & bulbs go in separate area)

MIXED PAPER

  • Includes advertising mail, magazines,c atalogs, envelopes (windows OK), cereal boxes, dry food boxes, soda & beer boxes, brochures, old bills, cancelled checks, paper egg cartons, phone books, paperback books (no hard cover books). Shredded paper OK-must be contained in a paper bag-no plastic bags 
  • Remove plastic from product packaging
  • Flatten boxes
  • Staples & paper clips OK
  • Remove & discard wax paper or plastic liners

    No pizza boxes, paper towels, paper plates, tissues, carbon paper, disposable diapers or hardcover books
    No waxed, greasy or plastic-coated paper or cardboard such as milk cartons & juice boxes
    No frozen food or drink packaging
    No foil wrapping paper

NEWSPAPER

  • Includes anything that comes with a newspaper, such as advertising inserts

    Do not tie with string— leave loose in recycling container

CARDBOARD

  • Includes brown paper bags and brown wrapping paper

    No food on cardboard
    No pizza boxes
    No waxed cardboard
    (Beverage boxes, cereal boxes go in different bin)

SCRAP METAL (Households)



FLUORESCENT TUBES/BULBS (Households)

  • Up to 12 bulbs (larger quantities to Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Station)
  • Wrap or bag appropriate so they will not break during transit.
    Do not tape tubes together.


HOUSEHOLD BATTERIES

  • Dry cell: AA, AAA, C, D, 9V
  • NiCad
  • Lithium
  • Rechargable batteries


LEAD ACID BATTERIES (Households)


MOTOR OIL (Households)


OIL FILTERS (Households)

  • Transport in non-breakable sealed container


ANTIFREEZE (Households)


PROPANE TANKS

  • Limit 3
  • BBQ size or smaller
