Appliance recycling
Snohomish County households may recycle washers, dryers, stoves, ranges, dishwashers, microwaves and hot water tanks, free of charge, at the Snohomish county transfers stations and NRDCs. Appliances must be 85% metal or more.
Appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, heat pumps and dehumidifiers contain chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), which are regulated under the Federal Clean Air Act, and must be disposed of properly. These items cannot be disposed or recycled at Snohomish County Solid Waste facilities. Snohomish County PUD has extended a program with JACO Environmental, a local appliance recycler, which offers $30 to PUD customers who give up their old refrigerators and freezers. Please see the Snohomish County PUD web site for more information.
