Hazardous Waste

Each year accidental poisonings and fires send hundreds of Snohomish County residents to area emergency rooms. Don't expose your family or the environment to unnecessary risks caused by improperly used or stored hazardous wastes. Many of the products that we use every day are hazardous. The easiest way to tell if your product is hazardous is to look at its label for these words: CAUTION, WARNING, DANGER, FLAMMABLE, COMBUSTIBLE, POISON, or CORROSIVE.

Snohomish County operates a facility to collect and properly dispose of hazardous waste. Our Household Hazardous Waste facility (HHW) is located in Everett (see link below). Households may bring accepted items free of charge to the HHW facility. The County also often collects household hazardous waste at local community cleanup events.

Stop by the Information Center at the HHW for free brochures on waste recycling and disposal options, or find more information on our brochures page.

Businesses in Snohomish County that produce or accumulate small amounts of hazardous waste must call the Moderate Risk Waste facility (MRW) at (425) 388-6050 to discuss options for disposal. Please see our business page for more information.
