Garbage Haulers Providing Curbside Service and Recycling collection
Snohomish County Solid Waste does not regulate the collection of garbage. The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (WUTC) regulates residential and non-residential garbage collection in unincorporated areas. Cities are permitted by State Law to choose their form of waste collection regulation. Some cities collect garbage themselves, or contract for services, and some rely on the WUTC to regulate the private garbage hauler as if they were an unincorporated area. This regulatory system was set up by the State Legislature in the 1960's to ensure that every citizen, no matter how remote, is offered efficient and cost-effective service.
Please select your city/town from the list below, which will link to information about garbage, recycling and yardwaste service in your community. Some cities also hold special city/community cleanup events. This list is provided as a generalized reference only. If you have questions, please call Snohomish County Solid Waste at (425) 388-3425.
