Water Quality Information
Summary
Lost Lake has low water clarity, moderate to high nutrient levels, and periodic algal blooms. Water clarity has increased in recent years; however, severe oxygen depletion and increasing nutrients are signs of eutrophication. The lake appears to be at risk of future declines in water quality unless nutrient runoff from the lake shore and the watershed is controlled.
Reports
A comprehensive Snohomish County State of the Lakes Report was produced in 2003 and includes a specific section on Lost Lake. Individual lake updates to this report are provided each year as new data are collected.
Data
Snohomish County Surface Water Management (SWM) together with volunteer lake-monitors have been collecting water quality data for Lost Lake since 1994. Current and historical lake water quality data are available online in SWM's interactive Water Quality Database.
