Lake Stickney

Lake Stickney is located between Interstate 5 and Highway 99 at the south edge of Everett.  The lake is 24 acres in size ans has a maximum depth of 10.4 meters.  Lake Stickney’s watershed is mostly developed and is very large (2761 acres) in comparison to the lake size.  There is a  wetland bordering the Southern third of the lake and the remainder of the shoreline is primarily residential.  A public boat launch is located on the north shore of the lake.  Gas-powered boats are not permitted.

Water Quality Information

Summary

Lake Stickney has moderate water clarity and algae levels, moderate to high phosphorus, and abundant aquatic plants.  Although water clarity has improved in recent years, the lake shows signs of eutrophication.  The lake may be at risk of future declines in water quality because of nutrient runoff from its large, highly developed watershed.  The adjoining wetlands are valuable for filtering pollution.

Reports

A comprehensive Snohomish County State of the Lakes Report was produced in 2003 and includes a specific section on Lake Stickney.  Individual lake updates to this report are provided each year as new data are collected.

Data

Snohomish County Surface Water Management (SWM) together with volunteer lake-monitors have been collecting water quality data for Lake Stickney since 1994.  Current and historical lake water quality data are available online in SWM's interactive Water Quality Database.
