Lake Stevens

Lake Stevens is located six miles east of Everett and is partially in Lake Stevens.  Lake Stevens is the largest natural lake in the county at 1040 acres.  The lake is also the deepest, with a maximum depth of 47 meters.  Recreational uses of the lake include fishing, swimming, boating, and skiing. Two County parks, Willard Wyatt Park and Sunset Park, and three City of Lake Stevens parks provide public access to lake Stevens.  Boats can be launched at Wyatt Park and the City boat launch.

Water Quality Information

Summary

Lake Stevens has high water clarity, low nutrients, and moderate aquatic plants.  In spite of the success of the aeration system, there are signs of accelerated eutrophication, such as a possible decline in water clarity and frequent blue-green algal blooms.  The health of the lake appears to be at risk unless nutrients from the lake shore and the surrounding watershed are controlled.

Reports

A comprehensive Snohomish County State of the Lakes Report was produced in 2003 and includes a specific section on Lake Stevens.  Individual lake updates to this report are provided each year as new data are collected.

Data

Snohomish County Surface Water Management (SWM) together with volunteer lake-monitors have been collecting water quality data for Lake Stevens since 1990.  Current and historical lake water quality data are available online in SWM's interactive Water Quality Database.

Lake Stevens Maps

  • Bathymetric Map - this map shows contour lines of equal depth similar to a topographic map.  Public access sites are also indicated on each map when applicable.
  • Aerial Photo - 2007 aerial photos of the lake with relevant features such as public access sites and nearby roads.
  • Watershed Map - this map shows the boundary of the Lake Stevens watershed.  A watershed is the land area that drains into the lake.
