Lake Beecher

Lake Beecher is a 20 acre lake located east of Cathcart and just west of the Snohomish River.  It is an average of 1.5 meters deep with a maximum depth of 3 meters.  The Lake Beecher watershed is 4,463 acres, 40% of which is developed.  There is no developed public access to the lake, but the Bob Heirman Wildlife Preserve at Thomas’ Eddy borders the lake to the north.

Water Quality Information

Summary

Lake Beecher has low water clarity, high nutrient levels, and dense aquatic plants, which is likely the natural condition for such a shallow oxbow lake.  However, the lake is at risk of future declines in water quality because of potential impacts from surface runoff and nutrients coming from the lake’s large watershed

Reports

A comprehensive Snohomish County State of the Lakes Report was produced in 2003 and includes a specific section on Lake Beecher.  Individual lake updates to this report are provided each year as new data are collected.

Data

Snohomish County Surface Water Management (SWM) together with volunteer lake-monitors have been collecting water quality data for Lake Beecher since 1997.  Current and historical lake water quality data are available online in SWM's interactive Water Quality Database.
