Surface Water Management Division

River Flooding and Erosion Management Programs

 

Surface Water Management conducts river-related studies and provides on-site investigations, technical assistance, flood warning programs, planning services and emergency response to citizens, businesses, and agencies to prevent flooding and respond to flood emergencies.

Hydraulic analysis and river-related studies to support floodplain management, flood hazard management, flood warning systems, bank stabilization, salmon recovery, permitting and capital improvement projects.

right arrow Flood Hazard Management Planning Program

Planning and development of flood hazard management plans for the main rivers; which includes technical assistance and emergency response to citizens, businesses, and agencies to prevent flooding and respond to flood emergencies.

 

right arrow Cooperative Bank Stabilization Program

Upon request, SWM staff will help owners of properties with eroding river and stream banks develop long-term solutions that will prevent property loss and restore habitat.
 

right arrow Assistance with Home Elevations, Relocations and Buyouts

Upon request, SWM staff will help owners of "flooded" properties to identify cost-effective actions and potential sources of state and federal assistance to reduce their future flood losses. Grant-qualified actions include home elevations, home relocations, and the acquisition and removal of structures in high-risk areas.

  • Provides information on what to do before, during and after a flood, important contact numbers and info on how the flood warning system works.
  • Real-Time Flood Warning System - Provides timely information on flood status and river levels across Snohomish County.
