Community Outreach & Stewardship Programs
The Community Outreach group provides residents with information, education, technical assistance and project resources to solve problems on their properties and improve the health of our streams, lakes and rivers.
We offer education programs on a variety of topics, advice, and site visits by watershed stewards. Under some circumstances, we can help residents with property improvements. In addition, we offer volunteer opportunities and links to partner organizations throughout the region.
Our watershed stewards are available to offer on-the-ground technical assistance to help property owners improve and restore water quality and aquatic habitat.
Our educators offer classes & workshops for land and home owners, workshops and technical assistance for teachers, watershed tours and activities for residents.
Native Plant volunteers learn about local vegetation and help restore native vegetation to streambanks.
Salmon Watch volunteers learn and monitor the presence of our various salmon species on local streams during the spawning season.
A septic system pilot program was conducted in coordination with Snohomish Health District in 2010 and 2011 to help homeowners with septic systems adopt everyday and long-term maintenance activities. This link includes helpful information on proper septic system care.
Citizen Advisory Committees
Good government needs active citizens and we need your help. Surface Water Management administers several active citizen committees that play key roles in Snohomish County's natural resource management.
