Surface Water Management Division

Marine Resources Program

The primary goal of Surface Water Management's Marine Resources Program is to protect and restore the marine waters, habitats, and species off the shores of Snohomish County.  We investigate marine resource-related concerns and recommend remedial actions to local authorities and property owners.

Technical Assistance

Surface Water Management staff are available to provide technical assistance, advice and ideas to shoreline landowners on issues related to:

  • Bluff management
  • Bulkheads and softshore armoring
  • Riparian vegetation
  • Marine life
  • Water quality
  • Beach restoration

If you would like Surface Water Management staff to make a site visit or have questions concerning these issues, please contact Kathleen Herrmann at 425-388-6414.

Marine Resources Advisory Committee (MRC)

Actions taken by the Marine Resources Program are shaped by input from the County Council-appointed  Marine Resources Advisory Committee. The eleven-member, volunteer Committee was formed in 1999 and is composed of citizens who represent: local governments; affected economic, recreational, and environmental interests; and local tribal governments.
