Marine Resources Program
The primary goal of Surface Water Management's Marine Resources Program is to protect and restore the marine waters, habitats, and species off the shores of Snohomish County. We investigate marine resource-related concerns and recommend remedial actions to local authorities and property owners.
Marine Resources Advisory Committee (MRC)
Actions taken by the Marine Resources Program are shaped by input from the County Council-appointed Marine Resources Advisory Committee. The twelve-member, volunteer Committee was formed in 1999 and is composed of citizens who represent: local governments; affected economic, recreational, and environmental interests; and local tribal governments.
Background
The Snohomish County Marine Resources Advisory Committee (MRC) is a citizen-based volunteer committee appointed by the Snohomish County Council. It is one of seven county-based MRC's which conduct restoration, conservation, and education projects with diverse partners and community members to meet performance benchmarks. These efforts are coordinated and guided by the Northwest Straits Commission (external link), a federally funded organization dedicated to protecting the Northwest Straits region of the Salish Sea.
