How You Can Get Involved
Attend Board Meetings
The public is invited to attend all meetings of the Noxious Weed Control Board. Meetings are held at 10:30 a.m. in the Road Maintenance Conference Room, 19700 67th Ave. NE, Arlington, WA for Feb. 9, March 8, April 12, May 10, July 12, Sept. 13 and Dec. 13, 2012.
Join the Board
The County Council appoints board members after openings are posted in local papers. Each member serves for four years. The County is divided into five districts, with a member coming from each district. Four of the five members must be involved in commercial agriculture and all must live in their respective district.
A County Noxious Weed Coordinator under the supervision of the County Department of Public Works assists the Board in carrying out noxious weed control along County rights-of-way, working with property owners, overseeing the Spartina eradication program, and providing education and assistance to County citizens about noxious weeds.
The Board does not have an active volunteer program, but encourages the public to control noxious weeds in their neighborhoods and to contact the Weed Board with locations of noxious weeds.
