About Fleet Management

Fleet Management, with a staff of 49 people, purchases, maintains, and manages a fleet of over 1,500 light trucks, automobiles and heavy equipment including medium and heavy duty trucks, construction equipment, snow plows, loaders, mowers, backhoes, excavators, graders, forklifts and other specialized pieces of heavy equipment, and over 1,000 radios at three locations throughout the County, as well as provides fuel, maintenance/repair and parts and construction material inventory services to County departments, other local governments, and outside agencies.

In 2010, Fleet Management was ranked #30 of the 100 Best Government fleets, #23 of the 100 Best Government Green Fleets, and achieved a 4-star rating in Evergreen Fleets Program, increasing from 3-stars in 2009. In both 2009 and 2010 Director Allen Mitchell was recongnized for The Environmental Leadership Award by Government Fleet Magazine. In 2007 and 2008, Fleet Management was recognized as one of the Top 100 Best Fleets in North America, and in 2008 was the #3 Government Green Fleet in North America.
