Boardwalk Trail Repairs

Snohomish County Parks Department has closed North Creek Boardwalk Trail until much needed repairs can be completed to the floating trail.

The Parks Department has hired a contractor to remove and replace the boardwalk's floatation. The project involves renovating 106 sections of boardwalk and includes rebuilding two seating areas.  The renovation work is expected to begin in mid-January and be completed by early spring.  Hopefully, all North Creek Park visitors will be able to keep their feet dry next spring.

Thank you for your patience as we complete this needed work. If you have questions about this project, please call Hal Gausman at 360-805-6729.

Description

This expansive wetland is located in an urban area. The sensitive wildlife habitat and diverse plant community serves multiple functions of flood control.  The network of boardwalks and trails provides excellent opportunities for bird watching and appreciating the ecosystem.

Park History

The property was originally owned by the Bailey family, historic homesteaders. The county parks department and Surface Water Management targeted the site as a regional stormwater detention facility. The site was later developed with an interpretive boardwalk.
