Lime Kiln Trailhead
Lime Kiln Trailhead - 22221 Waite - Mill Road, Granite Falls, WA
Park Map
The trail was completed in 2007 by a group of volunteers living in and around Granite Falls and led by Steve Dean. Park staff and this group of volunteers scouted out new trails to circumvent some of the washout sections. Majority of the “abandoned” railroad is retained. The Park Department later installed a trailhead.
A series of trail signs, mile markers and trail names are installed along the way. The major landmark is the Lime Kiln structure. Behind it is where the lime was mined. Along the trail, there is a series of squatters and rail activity remnants. The scenery and the landscape are spectacular.
On the downside, there is a washout on the early section of the trail. Staff is in the process of designing and installing a bridge over this washout.
