Comprehensive Parks Plan Update
Snohomish County Parks has started the process of updating the 2007 Comprehensive Parks Plan. This document is a component of the Snohomish County Growth Management Act Comprehensive Plan and works together with the County's General Policy Plan and Capital Facilities Plan to provide goals and an action plan for providing park services through 2025.
The plan is created through a year-long process to inventory park facilities in Snohomish County, solicit public input regarding recreation opportunities and an analysis to determine areas of need.
The current Snohomish County Comprehensive Park & Recreation Plan is intended to be in place through the end of 2012 and consists of:
- Goals
- Objectives and policies
- An action plan through the year 2025
- A description of the process undertaken to create the plan
- Property and facility inventories
- Maps
- A history of the Parks Department
Currently, the Parks Department is working on updating this document and is seeking public input into recreation priorities. A public survey was issued to approximately 20,000 randomly selected county residents asking questions about prefered recreation facilities and gathering input about the types of services we currently provide. Public meetings were held last summer to allow participants to voice their priorities for recreation and meetings are scheduled for this spring to allow feedback on the draft Plan.
One last meeting to collect public feedback into the Plan direction will be held June 6th at the Snohomish County offices in Everett.
