Permit Fees
2008 Fee Study
Snohomish County charges a variety of application and permit fees to recover its costs of regulating development. Most of these fees are currently listed in Chapter 30.86 of the Snohomish County Code. The County is updating the fees it charges as part of the overall update of the code.
In order to update these fees, the departments of Planning and Development Services and Public Works and the offices of the Hearing Examiner and Prosecuting Attorney are studying their costs of permitting services in conjunction with the 2009-2010 biennial budget preparation process. The County Council mandated this special study in its 2008 adopted budget.
The particular objectives of the fee study are to determine the full-cost of permitting services, calculate fees to recover the portion of full-cost targeted by County policy, and simplify the schedule of fees so that fees are easier for customers to calculate and predict.
