    The Community Center in Monroe, Washington has a vision to:

    • Greater understanding between different cultural groups

    Services offered at The Community Center include:

    • Bridge between families and services
    • Referral to existing services: childcare, job training, ESL classes, senior services, academic support for students
    • Help for substance abuse victims
    • Parenting classes
    • Navigation through systems and legal issues
    • Opportunities to learn of other cultures

    Familias Unidas

    Familias Unidas is the first and only Latino Resource Center in Snohomish County.  We focus on the Hispanic community in the area.  We offer a great variety of services such as:

    • Document Translation
    • Notary Public Services
    • Job Search
    • Assistance with filling out job applications & other forma

     

    We also offer education and support such as:  ESL (English as a second language) with childcare provided Parenting classes, Citizenship classes, and support groups like Seniors support group and Playgroups in Everett & Monroe (ages 0-5).

    Familias Unidas opened its doors in May of 2000, first with only a part-time schedule.  Then finally in July of 2001 we began operating full-time.  With only 1 full-time, 2 part-time staff paid persons and 1 AmericorpsVISTA, this center can only exist because of our volunteers and participants -- THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!

    Supervised by helpful staff at:  Monroe Junior High School, 1408 W. Main Street, Room A-4 (around the corner from the gym), Monroe, WA.  Hours:  Monday - Thursday, 3-6 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. - 3 p m.  There are 53 new computers . . .
