Applicants must submit a completed Civil Service Application and Supplemental Questionnaire to the Civil Service Commission. Applicants must also submit documentation of successful completion of a state basic law enforcement academy. Applications will be screened for completeness and to determine that all minimum qualifications are met. If acceptable, qualified applicants will be mailed a written test packet by certified mail. Completed test packets must be returned to the Civil Service Office within 14 days from the date of receipt. Late test packets will result in elimination from the testing process. The minimum passing score for the written portion of the test is 60%. All candidates who receive a passing score will be added to the eligibility list for this position. The duration of eligibility will be one year from the date the name is placed on the list. The eligibility list will continually be modified throughout the testing process.
Additional screening prior to appointment will include, but is not limited to, a complete background investigation, criminal record check, fingerprinting, a polygraph examination, a psychological evaluation, pre-employment drug screening and a medical evaluation.
Applicants will be notified by mail of their score on the written test. Placement on the list is subject to change throughout the testing process.
Completed application packets must be returned to the Civil Service Office. Incomplete or unsigned applications or supplemental questionnaires will be returned which will delay the testing process. Limit resumes and/or additional information to three (3) pages or less. |
