Snohomish County is self-insured for property damage and/or bodily injury liability. In accordance with RCW 4.96.020 and Snohomish County Code 2.90.050, Claims for Damages against the County shall be filed with the risk management division of finance.

Instructions for filing Claims:

If you feel you have a valid claim against the County:

1. Download a Claim for Damages form or call 425-388-3956 to request a form. 
2. Instructions for completing the Claim for Damages Form
   
3. Complete the form and attach estimates, receipts, bills, etc. to support your claim.
   
4. Mail a completed form to Risk Manager, Finance-Risk Management MS 610, 3000 Rockefeller Avenue Everett, WA 98201 

Once Risk Management has received a completed Claim for Damages form the claim is assigned to a claims adjuster for investigation.  The claims adjuster will contact you when the investigation is complete. 

• If the investigation reveals the County is responsible for damages claimed, the claims adjuster will contact you to reach an amicable settlement.
• 
  If the investigation reveals the County is not responsible, the claims adjuster will send a letter explaining why the county is declining payment.
