County Executive Invites Citizens To Participate On Board Of Equalization
Snohomish County residents with knowledge of property values are invited to submit their nominations for appointment to the county’s Board of Equalization. Nominations are due by Feb. 27. The Board of Equalization reviews appeals to assessed valuation of real and personal property. Currently, the board reviews 500 to 1,000 appeals annually and the time commitment is about one full day per month.

In his “State of the County” address to the Snohomish County Council, Reardon challenged County government to foster change by using:
• A priorities-based budget initiative that focuses on results, not a spending level set by the previous year’s budget; • SnoStat, a data-driven accountability system – accessible to citizens on the Internet – that will allow the County to constantly measure the performance, and benchmark the progress of its departments; and, • A business plan that will be institutionalized within County codes so the government’s regulatory climate can be constantly measured.
