Due to budget constraints, Snohomish County District Court will be CLOSED daily from 11:50 am to 12:50 pm. This closure will commence Monday October 26,2009, and will continue until further notice.
Mission Statement
Snohomish County District Court is dedicated to the goal of ensuring equal access to the law and resolving legal matters in a just, efficient, and timely manner. We are committed to upholding the public trust and confidence in the integrity of the judiciary and the courts. We will treat everyone who comes before the court with courtesy and consideration, and we will work to promote an understanding and respect for the law.
District Court judges are elected to four-year terms within their respective judicial districts. Snohomish County District Court is consolidated into one District Court, consisting of four Divisions: Cascade, Everett, Evergreen and South. District Court is a court of limited jurisdiction established by state statute. District Court resolves and adjudicates infractions, criminal traffic and criminal non-traffic violations. It also process small claims, civil actions, name changes, anti-harassment orders and domestic violence protection orders. 7 out of 8 cases in Washington State courts are filed at the District Court level. Snohomish County District Court processes over 129,000 cases per year.
