Dave Gossett
Mountlake Terrace
Dave Gossett was born and raised in Mountlake Terrace. He lives there now with his wife Laurie. He has three step-sons and eight grandchildren.
Dave attended the Honors Program at Seattle University for two years, and then transferred to the University of Washington where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a double major in History and Philosophy. He also has a Master’s degree from the UW in History and an AA degree from Shoreline Community College in Labor Studies.
Dave served for twelve years on the Mountlake Terrace City Council, including a six-year term as Mayor. He served as liaison to several city commissions including Arts, Solid Waste Advisory, and Recreation and Parks. As Mayor, he took a leading role in the Council sub-committee which negotiated the successful consolidation of fire services, saving taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars. County-wide his activities included serving on the Workforce Development Council, the Housing Trust Fund Board, and Snohomish County Tomorrow. He is currently a member of several community organizations including the Lions Club, Friends of the Arts, and Friends of the Library.
Before his election to the county council, Dave worked for eleven years as Legislative Analyst for the County Council. He provided policy and fiscal analysis to the County Council. Before going to work for the county Dave worked as a high school teacher and for various community and political organizations.
Dave Gossett was elected to a four-year term to the Snohomish County Council in 2001 and re-elected in 2005 and 2009. Dave represents the 4th County Council District which covers the south-central portion of Snohomish County and includes the cities of Mountlake Terrace, Brier, Mill Creek, and Bothell (Snohomish County) as well as parts of Everett and unincorporated areas in-between.
Dave Chairs the Public Works Subcommittee. He also serves on the Law & Justice/Human Services, Operations, Finance, and Planning Subcommittees.
He represents the county on a wide variety of outside committees including the Puget Sound Regional Council, North Sound Mental Health Administration, Snohomish Health District, and the Northshore Park and Recreation Service Area Board. Two special interests are transportation, where he serves on the Community Transit Board (currently Chair) and economic development where he represents the county on the Economic Development Council, the Greater Seattle Trade Development Alliance (currently Treasurer) and the Economic Development District.
Governor Gregoire has appointed him to represent western Washington counties on both the State's Freight Mobility Strategic Investment Board and the Affordable Housing Advisory Board.
