Alternatives to Jail: Community Corrections

It is the mission of the Community Corrections Division of the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office to provide quality alternative correctional programs that are designed to hold eligible offenders accountable for their actions in a community corrections setting with the principle goals being to:

1. Reduce the rate of non-compliance with sentencing conditions
2. Promote public safety and healthy communities for the citizens of Snohomish County
3. Create a balance to the sentencing/sanctioning goals of the court including punishment, deterrence, public safety and human or correctional services to offenders by using increasingly limited resources as effectively as possible

Current alternative programs include:

• Work/Education Release (WER)
• Electronic Home Detention (EHD)
• In/Out of Custody Work Crews
