The successful Snohomish County Focus on Farming Conference, now in its third year, expands regionally this year. We’ve invited our Western Washington neighbors to join us as we explore innovative opportunities to increase profits, diversify sales with value-added products, develop expanded partnerships and discuss fresh ideas worth investing in. First and foremost, agriculture is a business–a business that affects all of us.
At the first conference, in partnership with the County Council, we heard from 350 local farmers, ranchers and growers, and created the backbone of Snohomish County’s Agriculture Action Plan. Last year, we highlighted strategies for building on success. Today, we’re breaking down regulatory barriers and working with our local farmers to promote agriculture. It’s time to reach across regional boundaries and work together to create true sustainability and thriving farms. |

King County Executive Ron Sims |
To cultivate healthy, vibrant local agricultural communities, King County is working hard to protect farmland, encourage the purchase of locally-grown products and help farmers stay in a business that adds to all our residents' quality of life. We are pleased to join other counties interested in strengthening farming communities by sponsoring the Focus on Farming Conference. It is my hope that everyone will attend.
