General Description of Board Duties:

The mission of the Snohomish County Noxious Weed Control Board is to serve as responsible stewards of Snohomish County by protecting and preserving the land and resources from the degrading impact of noxious weeds. RCW 17.10 and SCC 3.42 created the Noxious Weed Board to adopt rules and regulations necessary for an effective noxious weed control or eradication program. It is made up of five members, each of whom represents a specific geographic Weed Control District.

Once a year, following the adoption of the State Noxious Weed List by the State Weed Board, the Snohomish County Weed Board reviews the changes in the state list and adopts the Snohomish County Noxious Weed List. The County Noxious Weed List reflects both the requirements of State Law WAC 16-750 and the priorities of the King County Noxious Weed Board. The Board designs and administers the County’s noxious weed control program under the authorization of State law and County policies.

County Noxious Weed Coordinator is hired by the Board to carry out noxious weed control along County rights-of-way, work with property owners, oversee the Spartina eradication program, and provide education and assistance to County citizens about noxious weeds.
