 ADMINISTRATION

 

 2013 County Engineer of the Year


Awarded by:
Washington State Association of County Engineers (WSACE)

Description: This award is given to an outstanding engineer each year and takes into consideration management skills, public relations, engineering expertise, community activities, association activity and other outreach.

Recipient: Owen Carter, Deputy Director of Snohomish County Public Works. Owen oversees three divisions: Road Maintenance, Transportation and Environmental Services, and Engineering Services.

 



 ENGINEERING SERVICES 

 

 2012 Surveyor of the Year 


Awarded by:
Land Surveyor's Association of Washington State

Description: Awarded to one individual who, by assessment of his or her peers, has contributed the most to the surveying profession as a whole over the past 5 years. Amanda is the first woman in the state to receive this award.

Recipient: Amanda Askren, Survey Supervisor



 2011 Engineering Excellence Gold Award


Awarded by:
American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC)

Description: Monte Cristo Grade Road Bridge #660 won a Gold Award under the "Social, Economical, and Sustainable Design Considerations" category.

 2010 FHWA Best County Project of the Year


Awarded by:
 Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)  

Description: Sauk River Bridge #414 – Recognized as a federally-funded transportation project that achieved excellence in safety enhancements, construction, innovative design, environmental sustainability and community involvement.

American Public Works Association (APWA)

Description: Sauk River Bridge #414 - An innovative construction technique was one of the features that made this project an award winner and saved County taxpayers $1 million in costs, shortened construction time by five months and minimized environmental impacts.

 2011 Western Washington Clean Cities Hall of Fame Award


Awarded by:
Clean Cities Coalition and Puget Sound Clean Air

Description: First award from Clean Cities for leadership as a fleet manager promoting alternative fuels in Snohomish County, support of Clean Cities Coalition as a steering committee member, and commitment to reducing the use of petroleum fuel and creating a cleaner, healthier environment for residents of the State of Washington.

 2011 Sustainability All-Stars Award


Awarded by:
Green Fleet Magazine, Bobit Business Media

Description: Snohomish County was nominated by the magazine itself as being one of the best in sustainable fleet management for retrofitting with diesel oxidation catalysts, and fleetwide biodiesel use.

In 2010, Snohomish County ranked 30th, its highest ranking ever.

 2012 Vision 2040 Award

 

Awarded by: Puget Sound Regional Council

Description: Community Transit and Snohomish County’s novel Curb the Congestion transportation management program has received a 2012 Vision 2040 Award from the Puget Sound Regional Council. The awards recognize innovative projects and programs that help ensure a sustainable future as the region grows.

 2011-2012 Government Partner of the Year


Awarded by: Center for Service-Learning at Edmonds Community College

Description: The 2011-2012 Government Partner of the Year award recognizes those partners for their dedication and inspiration to the service-learning program. It was awarded on behalf of the partnership between the Learn and Serve Environmental and Anthropology Field (LEAF) School and the Snohomish County Public Works wildlife monitoring program.

Awarded to: Terri Wentworth-Davis, as a representative of Snohomish County Public Works. 



 2011 ACT International Awards

Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT)
Description: The 2010 Curb the Congestion program was awarded 2nd Place in the Marketing Partnership category for the joint effort between Community Transit and Snohomish County for developing a program that successfully met an identified commuter need or concern.

 2010 Commute Smart Award


Awarded by: Washington State Governor's Office

Description: Snohomish County Public Works and Community Transit have been recognized for their Curb the Congestion Program. Curb the Congestion is reducing the number of vehicles on the road by providing individual assistance and incentives to try an alternative to the drive-alone habit.
